Your data, handled with care
How we collect, use, and protect the information you share with DNFolder.
Our Commitment
DNFolder ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. By using DNFolder, you agree to the practices described here.
What We Collect
Account data: email address, display name, plan status, and authentication details. Portfolio data: domain names, prices, notes, tasks, and calendar events - stored exclusively as client-side-encrypted blobs; DNFolder cannot read their contents. Technical data: IP address, browser type, and basic usage signals to keep the service reliable.
How We Use It
We use your data to operate and improve the platform, secure your account, prevent abuse, and send essential service updates. We never sell or rent your personal data to third parties.
Storage & Security
Your portfolio data - domain names, prices, notes, tasks, and calendar events - is encrypted with AES-256-GCM in your browser before it is written to our database. DNFolder cannot read your portfolio data; our servers only ever hold opaque encrypted blobs. This zero-knowledge design means that even in the event of a breach, your portfolio contents remain inaccessible to any third party.
Account metadata (email address, plan status, and domain count) is stored in plaintext as it is necessary to operate the service. A SHA-256 hash of your Recovery Key is retained solely to support the vault recovery flow; the plaintext key is never stored. We retain all account data only as long as necessary to provide the service or comply with legal obligations.
For a full technical breakdown, see our Security page.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email support@dnfolder.com.
Changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Updates will be posted on this page, and continued use of DNFolder means you accept the revised policy.
